Russian attack on Kharkiv leaves seven injured and damages important infrastructure

Russian forces launched an attack on the city of Kharkiv on the night of May 30, injuring six women and one man and damaging key infrastructure, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced at around 3 a.m. local time that there was a fire at the site of the impact and that a gas line had been broken. Houses in the area were also damaged. Four people were injured.

The attack targeted two different locations, including a two-story utility building, and caused a fire, the governor reported later that morning.

Rescue workers and volunteers are on site and will be making home visits this morning to clarify further details.

On May 10, Russia launched a new offensive in the north of Kharkiv Oblast with reportedly 30,000 soldiers.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Moscow’s armed forces were able to advance up to ten kilometers in the region, but were stopped by the first line of defense.

Russian forces regularly bombard population centers in Kharkiv Oblast with ground and air strikes. Local Ukrainian authorities have also reported cases of civilian executions by Russian troops.
