Michigan man with suspended license drives during Zoom court hearing – NBC Chicago

A video showing a Michigan man whose license was suspended appearing for his court date via Zoom call while driving has gone viral. The judge is visibly surprised.

The video shows the man apparently joining the Zoom call from the driver’s seat of a moving vehicle.

When asked by Judge Cedric Simpson if he had been driving, the man, whose name was listed as Corey Harris, said he had just been parking shortly before a doctor’s appointment.

After Harris parked his vehicle, Simpson, along with Harris’ attorney, a public defender, confirmed that Harris would appear in court to face the charge of driving without a license.

After Simpson simply repeated aloud what he had seen, Harris’s lawyer requested a four-week adjournment of the case, which was denied.

Simpson revoked Harris’s bail and ordered him to surrender at the county jail by 6 p.m. that day.

The Zoom call, which lasted about two minutes and 30 seconds, was posted on YouTube as part of the six-hour criminal docket dated May 15.
