Fundraiser after fatal accidental death of 8-year-old in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family of a child killed in a car crash in Lexington on Monday.

According to authorities, it happened shortly before midnight on Sunday at the intersection of Leestown Road and Citation Boulevard.

Lexington police said two cars collided and one rolled over. Several people were taken to the hospital, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn, 8-year-old Daleyza Ortiz Garcia was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after the accident, where she died.

Friends of the family launched a GoFundMe campaign on Tuesday to help pay for funeral and medical bills. At the time of this report, $8,425 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
