12 people arrested in human trafficking operation in Macomb County

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, along with the FBI and the United States Customs and Border Protection, searched two so-called spas and two homes on Wednesday, all in Macomb County.

They say both spas served as a front for what they believe was an illegal human trafficking operation.

The first was the 25 Health Spa on Shelby Road in Shelby Township.

The second is on Mound Road in Sterling Heights called Healing Plus Spa.

Both have a cloudy film over the doors and look unkemptThe two houses searched were in Macomb and Shelby townships.

A total of 12 people were arrested. The United States Customs and Border Protection has arrested six, and the sheriff has another six in custody.
