1 dead and 1 arrested after fatal crash in Robeson County, highway patrol reports

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WBTW) — One person is dead and another person was arrested following a crash Wednesday afternoon in Robeson County, said First Sgt. SB Lewis of the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

At around 5:19 p.m., police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Mount Zion Church Road and NC 71.

A Ford Ranger was traveling west on Mount Zion Church Road and a Ford Fusion was traveling north on NC 71 when the driver of a Ford Ranger drove off the road to the right and into a ditch.

The driver, Presley Prather, was pronounced dead at the scene, NCHP said.

After the impact, the Ford Fusion remained on the roadway. The driver, Isaac Locklear, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a medical facility, NCHP said.

An investigation conducted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol revealed that both vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in the collision.

Although both parties failed to stop at an intersection with four stop signs, Isaac Locklear’s conduct was responsible for Prather’s death. Locklear was charged with involuntary manslaughter, the NCHP said.
