12 people arrested in police raids as part of human trafficking investigation in Macomb County

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, 12 people were arrested in four police raids in Macomb County Wednesday morning as part of a human trafficking investigation.

The sheriff’s office, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Sterling Heights police and the FBI executed two search warrants at residences in Macomb Township and Shelby Township. Search warrants were also executed at 25 Health Spa, 54798 Shelby Rd. in Shelby Township, and Healing Plus Spa, 39573 Mound Rd. in Sterling Heights.

Six people were taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and six more were arrested by the sheriff’s office around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

In March Massage Parlor Eastpointe was closed after police received several complaints about Bella Touch Massage on 10 Mile Road. Police conducted an undercover investigation at the Macomb County massage parlor after customers reported they were offered illegal sexual services. During the investigation, a massage therapist offered sexual acts to a detective who had been receiving a massage, according to police.
