Woman killed in fire accident in Fayetteville, three others injured

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A woman died and three people were injured in a car accident in Fayetteville on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Fayetteville police, the accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Robeson Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that a black Dodge Charger, driven by 24-year-old Natawn McIntyre, crossed the center line and collided with a Ram 5500 truck.

As a result of the crash, the Charger caught fire and McIntyre’s passenger, 25-year-old Jermeia Washington, was trapped in the car. Washington died from her injuries sustained in the crash and fire.

Emergency medical services transported McIntyre to Chapel Hill with severe burns, while the driver and passenger of the Ram 5500 were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities believe McIntire’s careless and reckless driving was a contributing factor in the accident.
