50 Cent has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy, more than a month after she publicly accused him of rape and physical abuse in an Instagram post.

The court documents obtained by PEOPLE come from a March 28 Instagram post from Joy, whose real name is Daphne Narvaez. In the post, Narvaez, 37, wrote that she and Sire moved to New York to be closer to Jackson, but the “In da Club” rapper, 48, had only seen his son 10 times in two years.

“I am tired of maintaining and protecting an image of our son that you have never deserved. Let’s really focus on your true evil deeds of raping and physically abusing me,” she wrote.

Jackson’s attorney, Reena Jain of Blank Rome, tells PEOPLE in a statement: “Although Ms. Narvaez had ample opportunity to withdraw a false and malicious retaliatory accusation, she disgracefully chose to disrupt her 11-year-old son’s relationship with his loving father. “He mistakenly called him a ‘rapist’.”

The documents say Narvaez “retaliated” against Jackson’s custody request by posting “several defamatory statements” on Instagram in which he “falsely and publicly accused Jackson of rape and physical abuse during their previous relationship, in a targeted manner.” Attempt to…destroy his personal and business reputation.”, harm Jackson’s commercial and business interests, negatively impact his custody case, and prevent him from seeing his minor son. Narvaez’s claims are false.”
