An innocent San Francisco florist’s life was turned upside down after police uncovered the secret criminal past of her longtime boyfriend, whom she knew as “Randy.”

Officials told DailyMail.com that the unidentified woman was “shocked” when it was revealed that her boyfriend, who had lived in her $4.3 million California mansion for the past 15 years, was actually an escaped rapist from Massachusetts.

Tuen Kit Lee, a 55-year-old former restaurant manager, rose to notoriety as the “bad breath rapist” after he was found guilty in September 2007 of breaking into a colleague’s home on February 2, 2005 and sexually assaulting her at knifepoint.

He reportedly wore a mask over his face during the attack, but the victim recognized the smell of his breath from working together at the restaurant in Quincy, Massachusetts, on the outskirts of Boston. DNA tests later confirmed this.

Lee is believed to have fled court before the jury found him guilty. Now the US Marshals Service has revealed to DailyMail.com that he is living a life of luxury in California with an unsuspecting girlfriend who knew him as “Randy”.

Former restaurant manager Tuen Kit Lee (pictured in 2005) rose to notoriety as the “bad breath rapist” after he was convicted in September 2007 of breaking into a colleague’s house on February 2, 2005 and sexually assaulting her at knifepoint.

Chief Inspector Chris Tamayo said the couple lived in a $4.3 million mansion in the small town of Diablo, about 20 miles east of the Bay Area.

State police from Massachusetts and California tracked Lee to the house this year and waited outside until he came out. They watched him leave the house with his girlfriend at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday before getting into a car.

Police stopped the vehicle on Diablo Road and arrested Lee, who initially insisted his name was Randy. Later, under pressure from police, he admitted who he was and his fingerprints confirmed his true identity.

His girlfriend was horrified when officers told her who “Randy” really was, Tamayo said.

“She had absolutely no idea,” he told DailyMail.com. “The woman he was with had absolutely no idea who he was.”

“Her life was turned upside down. I definitely feel for her situation. She couldn’t believe it.”

Tuen Kit Lee (pictured in his 2005 mug shot) broke into a co-worker’s home and raped her on February 2, 2005. He fled court before a jury found him guilty and has since lived a life of luxury in the Golden State with his girlfriend, a florist.

Tamayo said the woman owned a flower shop in San Francisco, about a 35-minute drive from her luxury apartment, and Lee worked with her at the shop.

He said Lee had “given up everything from his previous life” to escape and “created a new identity” to hide his horrific criminal past.

Tamayo added that his victim, who had been waiting for the case to be solved for nearly 20 years, felt “a sense of relief” when police told her he had finally been arrested.

Photos posted on social media show Lee standing in handcuffs next to a police car while surrounded by several officers.

Lee was on the run long enough to close the case, but Tamayo said he wasn’t found until an “amazing” Massachusetts State Police detective reopened the investigation about two years ago.

“He found a picture on social media that linked him (Lee) to California and we were able to run with it and eventually identify him,” Tamayo said.

Lee was taken to the Danville Police Department for booking on Tuesday, where he will be held pending his extradition to Massachusetts.

“There are violent offenders who believe they can commit crimes without being held accountable for their actions,” said Chief Inspector Sean LoPiccolo, deputy commander of the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, in a statement.

“Tuen Lee was on the run for more than 16 years and the tireless efforts of law enforcement to find and arrest him will hopefully bring peace of mind to the victim and her family.”
