After knife attack on Hollywood make-up artist, she ended up in intensive care

A Hollywood special effects makeup artist has been released from the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital after she was stabbed multiple times in her home by a man her friends say is her ex-boyfriend.

Allie Shehorn was discovered bleeding in her home in the Shadow Hill neighborhood of Los Angeles on May 23 by a friend who was identified as Christine White on a GoFundMe page set up to pay her medical bills after the attack. The 35-year-old, who has worked on Hollywood productions such as Babylon And Rebel Moonhad obtained a restraining order against her alleged attacker, who had been released from prison a few days before the attack, friends said.

Shehorn, who was stabbed more than 20 times, according to KTLA, has undergone several surgeries since Thursday’s attack to close wounds on the right and left sides of her body, including wounds to her neck, her friend Emily MacDonald said on the GoFundMe page.

“I found her and had to go into the bedroom where it happened. It was not a pretty sight,” White told KTLA. “It shouldn’t happen to anyone. You don’t think it will ever happen to you.”

Doctors on her medical team said they were “cautiously optimistic” and she was “very stable,” the GoFundMe campaign said.

Los Angeles Police and Fire Department paramedics confirmed they responded to an incident in Shadow Hill Thursday morning that was reported before dawn. When they arrived, they found a person who had been stabbed. The Los Angeles Times reported. According to police, the attacker fled the scene before police arrived.

Friends of Shehorn wrote on the GoFundMe page that the alleged attacker was someone she recently met on a film set and who some of them knew. Friend Jed Dornoff wrote on the GoFundMe page that the man has since been caught and arrested.

“The man (I am not naming him, he does not need or deserve the attention) who did this has been caught,” Donoff wrote, adding, “He was caught trying to flee the country at the Texas-Mexico border. As far as I know, he is currently being held in Texas.”

Calls and outreach attempts from The Hollywood Reporter Requests to the LAPD for confirmation of the arrest went unanswered. A message sent to MacDonald was not immediately returned.

As Shehorn recovers, friends say her condition has stabilized and she can now speak; and she even eats pudding, one wrote.

“She is still determined not to let this get her down,” Dornoff wrote in an update, “and is overcoming the pain to heal.”
