1 dead and 1 injured after early morning shooting in northwest Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Amarillo police said they are investigating after a woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning.

According to APD officials, officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 2600 block of SW 3rd at around 1:25 a.m. for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers then learned that another person may have been inside a home in the 100 block of North Bowyer.


APD officials said police and paramedics went to the house and found 50-year-old Rosa Maria Rangel, who had died “of apparent gunshot wounds.”

Officials said next of kin have been notified and the incident is being investigated by the Amarillo Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
