Missing Laurel man found safe and sound, Silver Alert cancelled

LAUREL, Mississippi (WDAM) – A Silver Alert has been issued for a man reported missing from the Laurel area.

According to a Facebook post from Laurel Police, 55-year-old James Earl Mathis was found safe and sound.

Early Wednesday morning, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, on behalf of the LPD, issued a Silver Alert for Mathis.

According to the MBI, Mathis was last seen on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West Drive in Jones County driving in an unknown direction. He was last seen wearing a navy blue safety shirt, navy blue pants and brown steel-toed boots.
