Gregg Doyel suspended after video of Caitlin Clark; Will not participate in Fever Games

The Indianapolis Star Columnist Gregg Doyel has been suspended for two weeks following his exchange with Caitlin Clark during Indiana Fever media day, according to veteran sportswriter Bob Kravitz.

Doyel also will not take part in any Fever games this season.

He received heavy criticism for inappropriate comments when he referenced Clark’s “heart hands” gesture she makes to her family at games:

Doyel he apologized Hours later, he wrote to Clark welcoming him to Indianapolis β€œin my uniquely goofy way.” He also wrote a column in which he wrote, “I need to be more conscious of how I talk to people – not just athletes.”

Doyel said he was “kind of known locally for, sigh, having awkward conversations with people before asking bold conversational questions,” explaining he didn’t understand the underlying dynamic that separates male and female athletes.

According to Kravitz, Doyel’s suspension is scheduled to end May 13, one day before the Fever’s season opener against the Connecticut Sun. Whatever he writes about Clark’s rookie campaign, however, will be written from afar.
