2 dead, police pursuit leads to multi-car crash and shooting on Grove Avenue in Ontario

ONTARIO, CA (May 7, 2024) — Two people died after a police chase led to a multi-car crash and fatal shooting at Grove Avenue and Philadelphia Street.

According to Ontario Police, the chase happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. After police spotted a suspect associated with a disturbance at a nearby residence, they directed him to get out of the car. However, the suspect – with a history of domestic violence – refused and led police on a high-speed chase.

The driver then crashed into two other vehicles at Grove Avenue and Philadelphia Street. From there, the man got out of the vehicle, fled the scene and attempted to steal another car until police shot the man.

After the incident, paramedics arrived and took the suspect to a local hospital, where he died. In addition, they took two of the accident victims involved to a hospital, where one of them went home with minor injuries and the other died.

The officials did not give any names.
