Four teenage boys arrested after young girl was ‘raped on playing fields’

Four boys were arrested on suspicion of rape after police received a report of a teenage girl being “seriously sexually assaulted” at a sports field in Newark, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday night.

Four boys were arrested by police in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl on a sports field.

Police in Newark, Notts., were called to the fields on Saturday evening following reports of a serious sexual assault on a young girl. Detectives are currently carrying out investigations in the area.



Two boys, aged 15, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on Monday and released on bail and under strict conditions, police said. A fourth boy, aged 16, was arrested on Tuesday and remains in police custody.

Inspector Dan Evans of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers are investigating reports of a serious sexual assault on a young girl in Newark. The young woman and her family are being supported by specially trained officers.”

“Our investigation is progressing rapidly and I hope we can provide reassurance to the public that four boys have been arrested while we clarify what happened. A number of people have come forward to help us with our investigation and I would like to thank them for their assistance. Anyone with information, particularly those who were in the Yorke Drive area at the time, is asked to come forward.”
