Delhi man arrested for hitting someone on the head with a baseball bat

DELHI, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Delaware County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a Delhi man on suspicion of assault that occurred in the city of Delhi.

On May 23, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Delaware County Sheriff’s officers responded to an assault complaint in the Town of Delhi.


Further investigation into the incident revealed that 30-year-old Michael Stein Jr. of Delhi struck another person on the head with a baseball bat following a verbal argument.

Officers then arrested Stein Jr. and charged him with second-degree assault (a Class D felony), fourth-degree criminal damage to property, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. All of these offenses are Class A misdemeanors under New York State criminal law.

Stein was transported to the Delaware County Central Prosecutor’s Office, where he was detained and later transferred to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash and $50,000 secured bond.
