Rain interrupts play at Roland Garros

Play on the outdoor courts at Roland Garros has been suspended.

Due to rain, play on the outdoor courts at Roland Garros was suspended on Wednesday.

Play on the clay court began on time before being suspended at 11:57 a.m. local time. Eighth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz was playing against Brandon Nakashima on Court Simonne-Mathieu, while Ben Shelton was playing the first set against Kei Nishikori on Court 7 when rain began to fall.

Sebastian Korda’s second-round match against Soonwoo Kwon was suspended in the first set, as was Lorenzo Sonego’s match against Zhang Zhizhen. Play will not begin on the outdoor courts until 2:30 p.m.

Play continued under cover on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, where Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Daniel Altmaier. Andrey Rublev will play Pedro Martinez later. On Court Philippe-Chatrier, Carlos Alcaraz will face Jesper De Jong in the day session. Jannik Sinner will play Richard Gasquet in the night session.

In the packed schedule of day four, Denis Shapovalov will face Frances Tiafoe, while former champion Stan Wawrinka will face Pavel Kotov. 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov will play Fabian Marozsan, while Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Henri Squire.
