US football player accused of sexually abusing two flight attendants: Case to date

Brandon McManus, a former kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been accused of sexually harassing two women during the team’s trip to London last year. Two flight attendants have filed an anonymous lawsuit claiming McManus inappropriately touched them on the team’s trip to London in September 2023. Court documents obtained by The Associated Press claim that the two women, identified in the lawsuit as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II,According to the lawsuit McManus, 32, is said to have rubbed and ground himself against them during the ride, which was characterised by a party atmosphere, and in one turbulent moment he attempted to kiss one of them while she was seated.

Allegations emerge

Jane Doe I claims that McManus made two attempts to “rub” himself on her while she was serving in-flight meals and then attempted to kiss her while she was sitting on the plane during turbulence, as reported by ESPN. Jane Doe II states that after confronting the NFL kicker about his inappropriate touching, McManus “giggled and walked away.” In addition to incriminating McManus, the lawsuit raises concerns about the Jaguars organization’s oversight and its failure to ensure a safe work environment for its employees. In addition, the lawsuit alleges that McManus invited three other flight attendants to the celebration and offered them $100 bills as a financial incentive to get them to drink and participate in his inappropriate behavior.

legal action

The lawsuit, filed Friday and posted in the Duval County Circuit Court database Tuesday, names McManus and the team as defendants and seeks more than $1 million in damages. They claim the incident caused them emotional distress and holds both McManus and the Jaguars organization liable.

Brett R. Gallaway, McManus’ attorney, vehemently called the allegations “absolutely fabricated and demonstrably false” in his response to the allegations. “These are clearly false allegations that have been demonstrably fabricated to slander and defame a talented and respected NFL player. We will vigorously defend Brandon’s rights and integrity and clear his name by proving what these allegations really are – an extortion attempt,” Gallaway said.

Interestingly, McManus left the Jaguars in March this year to accept a £2.8 million contract with Washington Commanders, but the allegations cast a shadow over his career and raised questions about his behaviour off the field.

Against this background, the commanders acknowledged the complaint and stated thatThe allegations made in this lawsuit are very serious. They intend to release further comment until they have spoken with Brandon’s attorney. The outcome of the lawsuit remains uncertain as both sides prepare for litigation.

Meanwhile, the allegations have reignited discussion about the culture within professional sports organizations and the importance of accountability and responsibility in ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all employees.
