House destroyed, pets die in nighttime fire near Blair

BLAIR, Nebraska (WOWT) – A house fire broke out in Washington County late Tuesday night, keeping firefighters working until the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Washington County officials confirmed that emergency crews were called to the scene shortly before midnight.

The house is located south of Highway 75 between Blair and Fort Calhoun.

No one was taken to the hospital.

According to a neighbor who spoke to a 6 On Your Side photographer on the scene, a cat and a dog died in the fire.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to the house were not immediately clear.
