Fatal accident in Jefferson County, I-94 closed, 1 dead

A fatal accident closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-94 in Jefferson County on Tuesday evening, May 28.

The Wisconsin State Patrol confirmed one person was dead and two others were injured. The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at Mile Marker 277, near Sullivan.

According to WSP, three vehicles in the westbound lanes were involved in the accident.

An initial investigation indicates that an eastbound car lost control, crossed the median and struck two westbound vehicles, including a semi-truck. The driver of the car died in the crash.

According to WSP, the occupants of the other vehicles did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Due to the accident, the lanes from CTH F to WIS 67 were closed.

The incident is still being investigated by the WSP. Several teams and authorities were deployed on site.
