Election Commission suspends special secretary to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik | News from India

BHUBANESWAR: Ahead of the final phase of June 1 elections in Odisha, the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday suspended Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s special secretary DS Kutey for “inappropriate interference in the conduct of the poll”.

The EC also ordered Inspector General (CM Security) Ashis Singh, who has been on sick leave since May 4, to appear before a medical panel at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar by Thursday for an examination.

The election body directed the chief secretary to file charges against Kutey by Thursday.
