An investigation is underway after a house fire in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Authorities are investigating a death related to a house fire in Jackson County.

Jackson County sheriff’s officials say the fire broke out early Tuesday at a home near Palmview and Woodrest roads in Cottondale.

After firefighters extinguished the flames, they checked inside and found the body. According to authorities, the victim has not yet been identified.

The investigation is now being taken over by the state fire department.
