Lowndes County fugitive arrested Tuesday morning | Local

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WTVA) – The man who has been on the run since his conviction in Lowndes County is back in custody.

Elonzo Latham was arrested on 23rd Street South in Columbus and booked into the Lowndes County Jail Tuesday morning, according to the jail roster.

The US Marshals attribute his arrest to a tip from Crime Stoppers.

A jury convicted the 31-year-old on May 21 of sexual abuse of a child.

However, he did not appear in court again to make his closing argument and the judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

He will soon be sentenced and faces 20 years to life in prison.
