Man killed by officers after allegedly threatening people at a prayer center

Hillsborough County sheriff’s officers shot and killed a man who was allegedly banging on the window of a Plant City prayer center and threatening to kill people. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to a prayer center in the 2900 block of South Frontage Rd in Plant City around 2:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they saw a man outside the center armed with a metal object. Officers attempted to speak with the man, but HCSO said he behaved erratically and kicked the center’s gate. According to HCSO, the metal object the man was carrying was a railroad tie.
