Former Geneva North Street teacher charged with 17 counts of child sexual abuse in Monroe County

Authorities in Geneva announced the arrest of a former teacher at the city’s North Street school between 2022 and 2023.

On May 22, Robert W. Petit was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department on charges of sexual abuse and child endangerment.

Petit is charged with 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with incidents that occurred in March 2023 in the Wheatland-Chili School District.

Petit was a teacher at the Geneva Central School District’s North Street School from 2022 to 2023. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Ontario County Prosecutor’s Office and the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes.
