Wisconsin daycare worker arrested after child found with cocaine

OAK CREEK, Wis. (WBAY) – On Tuesday, Oak Creek Police released information regarding a child abuse investigation in Oak Creek. A daycare worker was arrested after a child was found to have cocaine in his system.

According to a police report dated May 15, they were contacted by staff at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin about a possible child abuse victim at the facility. Police say the parents noticed several scratches and marks on the child and brought him to the hospital for evaluation.

Authorities reported the following week that the hospital’s toxicology report came back positive for cocaine metabolites. After using a sniffer dog to search the facility’s vehicles and the outdoor infant room, police found a small plastic bag of cocaine in an employee’s backpack.

The employee now faces charges of child neglect, possession of a controlled substance near certain locations and a misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession.
