Rape: Three arrested for raping 11-year-old girl | News from Chennai

Chennai: An 11-year-old girl was raped by two minor boys and a 52-year-old tailor in Villivakkam for the past six months. Based on their complaint, police have arrested the three. The incident came to light after the girl discussed the issue with her aunt as her parents did not listen to her. On Monday, the girl, a fifth-grade student, visited her aunt complaining of stomach pain. She was taken to the hospital where doctors examined her and found that she had been raped. Subsequently, the hospital authorities informed Villivakkam police and the case was transferred to Villivakkam All Women police station. Based on their complaint, police have arrested the three accused of the crime. Further investigation of the girl revealed that one of her relatives, a minor boy, took her to a secluded place on the pretext of buying her snacks and raped her there. Another minor boy and Kumar, a 52-year-old local tailor, who saw this, also started sexually abusing her. Though the child reported this to her parents, they did not listen to her as they regularly returned home drunk after work, police said. As her efforts to inform her parents were unsuccessful, she decided to tell her aunt about the matter. Villivakkam AWPS, who have filed a charge sheet under the Pocso Act against the trio, is questioning them. Police are trying to find out if there are any other accused in the case who sexually abused the child.
