Gaza: Hundreds of thousands flee Rafah as Israel steps up attacks – video report | Gaza

Israeli forces have reached the centre of Rafah in their ongoing assault on the southern Gaza city. International pressure on Israel has increased after three European countries officially recognised a Palestinian state and the UN Security Council convened an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in Gaza. Israeli forces again attacked the Tel al-Sultan area, where at least 45 people were killed in an airstrike and a massive fire in an area full of refugee tents. Gaza authorities said 21 people were killed in the latest attack, more than half of them women. About 1 million people have fled Rafah since the beginning of May and hundreds of thousands are still seeking refuge there, near the border with Egypt.
