Firefighters in Kodiak were called to a house fire near the home early Sunday morning and found a 70-year-old woman dead, Alaska police said.

The Kodiak Fire Department was called to the residence on Benny Benson Drive around 1 a.m., police said. Firefighters found Olga Malutin inside the building and took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, they said.

A deputy fire chief investigated the scene and determined the fire started in the bedroom and “was electrical in origin,” officials said. Malutin’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, officials said.
