OHP: One man dead after boating accident at the weekend | News

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said an Indianola man was killed in a boating accident on Lake Eufaula over the holiday weekend.

Police said 25-year-old Charles Gustafson died in a boating accident near Bridge No. 9 near Longtown in northeast Pittsburg County.

According to the report, a Eufaula man was operating a 24-foot 2019 JBC Express open boat near Number 9 Marina in Longtown on Sunday.

According to OHP, the boat was traveling south and passing under Bridge Number 9 when it ran aground on the west bank and struck several trees before coming to a stop.

There were two passengers on the boat at the time of the accident. Both men were thrown from the boat.

According to OHP, a 25-year-old Eufaula man was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital and was listed in good condition with injuries to his body, external injuries and head injuries.

Police said emergency services pronounced Gustafson dead at the scene of the accident.

According to the report, the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Officers Thomas Giulioli, Ty Wallace and Cody Enloe investigated the incident with assistance from Fire Department No. 9, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office and Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police.
