Man arrested for causing a public nuisance after climbing on statue and undressing

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police were dispatched to the corner of 4th St. and Lomas Monday morning after 47-year-old Hector Melero climbed the “Bumblebe” statue and removed his clothing.

According to a criminal complaint, Melero was seen on top of the statue, completely naked and wearing what police called a “bunny costume” around his ankles. The Albuquerque Fire Department arrived on the scene and was able to help Melero down from the statue. He was arrested for public nuisance.
