It’s always hard to say goodbye to a favorite restaurant, especially if it’s been around for a while. Here’s the latest round of restaurant closures in the city.

The best sandwich shop serves its last sub on May 26

Atlanta chef Shaun Doty’s small sandwich shop, Best Sandwich Shop, announced over Memorial Day weekend that Sunday, May 26, was its last day. In an Instagram post, Doty said: “This decision was incredibly difficult. We have poured our hearts into this restaurant and it has been very rewarding to be the go-to place for so many people in the neighborhood. The post also states that the space at 863 Ponce de Leon Ave NE will go to a “premier local operator.”

Punk Foodie closes its Ponce City market stall on May 13

Pop-up incubator Punk Foodie has closed its Ponce City Market stand after six months of operation. Founder Sam Flemming announced the decision regarding Rough Draft Atlanta. He wrote: “…it’s been great over the last six months, with over 50 chefs coming to serve almost an equal number of cuisines. That being said, we at Punk Foodie have decided to end the booth experience and focus on other formats to achieve our mission.

Snackboxe Bistro closes its Doraville location on May 11

Laotian restaurant Snackboxe Bistro will close its Doraville restaurant but will keep the Duluth restaurant operating. Chef Thip Athakhanh opened Doraville Snackboxe Bistro in 2018 to great success, serving dishes like lemongrass-grilled short ribs and shrimp ceviche with spicy chili-lime fish sauce.
