A death investigation has been launched following the shooting in Montgomery on Sunday evening

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A death investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death late Sunday night, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Investigators identified the deceased as Katorri Martin, 37, of Montgomery.

Police and firefighters responded to the 700 block of Woodrow Street about a few minutes before 11 p.m. Sunday after a report that someone had been shot.

First responders found Martin in life-threatening condition. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Montgomery police are currently classifying this as a death investigation rather than a homicide as the circumstances surrounding Martin’s death remain under investigation.
