Man from Hays in hospital after rear-end collision

HARVEY COUNTY – A Kansas man was injured in a crash in Harvey County shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by Joshua B. Burkholder, 41, of Hays, traveling north on Interstate 135, just north of Kansas 196.

The car moved into the left lane to avoid traffic caused by an oversized load. The Ford struck a 2015 GMC Terrain driven by Kandace L. Broussard, 21, of Lincoln, Nebraska.

EMS transported Burkholder, Broussard and a passenger in the SUV, identified as Jenefer M. Bromm, 49, of Lincoln, Nebraska, to Wesley Medical Center. All three were properly restrained, according to KHP.

At the time of the accident, a juvenile was in the Ford; according to the KHP, juvenile criminal records are protected data.
