Bronx man arrested for grand larceny

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — State police have arrested a Bronx man for allegedly stealing a car using a forged cashier’s check. Alex Almonte, 23, faces several charges in connection with the incident.

Police said they received a report from a Saratoga County resident on April 4 that his car had been stolen. According to police, the investigation revealed that the victim had agreed to sell his car to Almonte, who gave the victim a forged cashier’s check totaling more than $50,000 for the vehicle.


After further investigation, police report that Almonte falsified the DMV paperwork and sold the car shortly after the alleged theft. Police say they found the car in Brooklyn on April 5.

Almonte turned himself in to state police and was arrested. He was arraigned in Clifton Park Municipal Court and released.
