Human skull discovered overnight northwest of Atlanta, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered overnight in northwest Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department said that at 12:32 a.m., officers responded to North Avenue and Northside Drive for a report of human remains found. When officers arrived, they said they found what appeared to be a human skull near a railroad track in the area.

Police said the Fulton County medical examiner attended the scene and confirmed it was a human skull. They said there do not appear to be any additional remains in the area.

APD says the medical examiner will investigate further.
