Minor accused of attacking child in Westbrook faces attempted murder charge: Police – NBC Connecticut

A minor is accused of attacking and seriously injuring another child in Westbrook on Friday night and faces attempted murder charges, according to state police.

State police responded to Boston Post Road in Westbrook around 8:30 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of an injured child and found a boy with serious injuries, state police said. LifeStar responded and airlifted him to an area hospital.

According to state police, surveillance video showed a minor attacking the victim and then running away.

The Central District Major Crime Squad arrived at the scene and several police dogs, a bloodhound and the State Police drone unit were deployed to search for a suspect.

He was arrested, taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and remains in custody, state police said.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging the suspect with attempted murder, state police said.

Due to the age of the victim and the suspect, they are not releasing any further information.
