Man allegedly linked to investigation into Deep River death and stabbings in Massachusetts faces trial – NBC Connecticut

A man allegedly connected to the investigation into a death in Deep River and several stabbings in Massachusetts over the weekend is due to appear in court on Tuesday.

A death was investigated in Deep River over the weekend. Police were dispatched to a location in Deep River shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday because a disturbance had been reported.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a body. The identity of the person was not released. It is unclear how the person died.

The death in Deep River is believed to be connected to several stabbings in Massachusetts. NBC 10 Boston has multiple law enforcement sources who link the two cases.

Police in Braintree, Massachusetts, said a man entered the AMC Braintree 10 around 6 p.m. Saturday, walked past the ticket counter, went into one of the theaters without paying and stabbed four young girls in an unprovoked attack. The girls, aged between 9 and 17, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Three of the girls who were stabbed are sisters. Their mother said the man came up behind them as they were already sitting and stabbed one of them in the back, one in the chest and the other in the arm, all the while laughing.

“You should be able to go to the movies. I mean, someone should be able to show a ticket. First of all, nobody should be able to just walk in. But yes, you can’t live in your own home, but that’s happening more and more. Parents are getting sick of taking their kids anywhere or letting them go anywhere without them. I absolutely feel that way,” said Lisa Dembowski, the mother of three of the girls who were stabbed.

AMC said in a statement that the incident is currently being thoroughly investigated and that a visible security presence will be maintained at the location in the future.

“The well-being of our guests and employees is AMC’s highest priority and we are saddened by this senseless act of violence. We are encouraged to hear that the victims are recovering and we are privately contacting their families,” AMC said in a statement.

After the stabbing, the man allegedly ran out of the theater and drove away in an SUV. Video surveillance of the man’s vehicle captured the license plate and helped officers locate it.

Authorities said the man was involved in another stabbing attack shortly afterward at a McDonald’s in a park-and-ride lot in Plymouth, Massachusetts. A 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Massachusetts State Police later found the man’s vehicle in Sandwich, Massachusetts. When troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, the man reportedly did not stop.

Authorities said the man led police on a chase that ended in a serious accident. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is currently unclear.

The man is scheduled to appear in court in Massachusetts on Tuesday in connection with one of the stabbings.

Connecticut and Massachusetts state police have not released the suspect’s identity.

The district attorney’s office in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, has identified the suspect in the stabbing in Plymouth, Massachusetts, as Jared Ravizza, 26, of Chilmark, Massachusetts, which is on Martha’s Vineyard. They said he is suspected of being involved in several stabbings on the southern shore of Massachusetts.
