Local paramedic and volunteer firefighter seriously injured in accident on Friday evening

A well-liked employee of the Onancock Vol. Fire Department’s Department of Public Service and a firefighter-paramedic with the Parksley Volunteer Fire Department were seriously injured Friday evening on Bayside Road near Onancock.

Jackie Hardstock, 26, of Parksley was driving on Bayside Road around 10pm Friday night when her car left the road and struck a tree. Emergency crews from Parksley and Onancock arrived at the scene.

According to Onancock VFD Chief Rydberg, Hardstock was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. She is currently in critical but stable condition and is in an induced coma due to swelling in her brain. Rydberg stated that her recovery could take months.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to support Hardstock and her parents, who traveled to Baltimore to be by her side.
