Charlotte County investigates jailhouse assault that left victim unconscious

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Charlotte County officials are investigating an assault at the county jail.

Officials said one victim was unconscious after Monday’s attack. The inmate was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Corrections officers identified the suspect.

It is unclear who the occupants are and what injuries they sustained.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
