FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A woman described as a “habitual shoplifter” was arrested Sunday after allegedly robbing a Walmart and subsequently leading police on a high-speed chase.

At around 10:45 p.m., Fond du Lac City Police responded to a call at a Walmart on N. Rolling Meadows Drive where a woman was “actively shoplifting.”

Officials say the suspect had just left the parking lot in her vehicle when an FDLPD officer arrived on the scene. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop, ran a red light at the intersection of N. Rolling Meadows Drive and W. Johnson Street, and fled south on Highway 41.

Police pursued the vehicle, which reached speeds of approximately 88 miles per hour before the driver drove onto S. Hickory Street and surrendered. The vehicle’s sole occupant, a 37-year-old woman from Milwaukee, was taken into custody without further incident.

According to a press release, she was arrested for shoplifting, eluding a police officer, jumping bail and repeated possession of marijuana. She had a probation warrant and two Waukesha County warrants for shoplifting and shoplifting.
