Chief and nine officers of Sverdlovsk District Police Station dismissed after incident involving foreign students

AKIPRESS.COM – The head of the Sverdlovsk district police station, Jenishbek Abitov, and nine station officers were dismissed following the incident with the foreign students, the Interior Ministry reported.

Jenishbek Abitov has been the head of the Sverdlovsk District Police Department since April 2024.

The review meeting was held by Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov and discussed the fighting between foreigners and locals on May 13 and the unrest on May 17.

The review meeting was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Bishkek City Police Department, other district precincts and police officers responsible for protecting public order and security.

The head of the Bishkek City Police Department, Azamat Toktonaliev, informed about the developments in Bishkek. The head of the internal investigation service, Jolboldu Kochkonov, presented the results of the official investigation into the events of May 13 and 17.

Disciplinary sanctions were imposed on 20 police officers. Nine police officers and the head of the Sverdlovsk District Police Department were dismissed. Various types of disciplinary sanctions were imposed on ten officers of the Bishkek City Police Department and the Sverdlovsk District Police Department.

The conclusion of the official investigation concerning the members of the investigative and operational group that investigated the May 13 fighting was transferred to the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for legal assessment.
