City calls for Buckhead club to close after college volleyball player dies – WSB-TV Channel 2

Channel 2’s Michael Seiden learned of some of the accusations against the nightclub.

“It’s just crazy, my sister was just having fun and now our lives are changed forever,” said Tiffany Eason, Mari Creighton’s sister.

It’s been two weeks since a gunman opened fire at Elleven45 Salon in Buckhead, killing two people, including 21-year-old Mari Creighton, and injuring four others.

The city of Atlanta is seeking a temporary restraining order in an attempt to shut down the popular Peachtree Road nightclub.

According to the complaint filed Friday, city attorneys are asking the courts to declare the business a public nuisance, saying it “failed to provide adequate security and safeguards to protect its customers and those nearby “.

The complaint also cites numerous incidents since 2020 in which “APD responded to at least 12 calls for service following fatal shootings, attempted shootings, stabbings, threats of harm, physical altercations, thefts and disturbances to public order”.

One of the most serious incidents included in the complaint occurred on August 8, 2020, when police responded to shots fired at the club and found a man armed with an AR-15 rifle at the hand and a pistol in his pocket.

There is also the most recent act of violence reported when police said a gunman, who is still on the street, shot and killed Nakyris Ridley, 20, after investigators said the two men had started fighting inside the club.

The shooter also killed Creighton, a rising senior and volleyball player at Albany State University.

Creighton’s niece, Taylor Homes, 22, was also struck by gunfire. But she and three others survived the deadly encounter.

“We want whoever did this arrested and we just want everyone to know how much she was loved,” said Telia Wheeler, Creighton’s sister.

Channel 2 Action News contacted the club owners who are named in the complaint but have not yet received a response.
