Cedrick Long of Millbrook arrested for robbery; awaits hearing under Aniah’s Law

BY CHIEF PK JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE

Cedrick M. Long, 30, of Millbrook is in custody for robbery 1st Graduated after his arrest on a warrant issued by the Millbrook Police Department.

On May 27, 2024, Millbrook Police officers responded to a report of domestic violence in the 300 block of Crossings Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 44-year-old woman who claimed to have been assaulted by her boyfriend, who apparently left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Officers attempted to make contact with the offender but were unable to locate him in the area. The victim, who sustained minor injuries, refused medical treatment. A third-degree domestic violence report was filed.

At the scene, Millbrook Police officers encountered Cedrick M. Long, who they knew was wanted on a warrant for first degree robbery. The warrant was obtained by Millbrook detectives as part of an unrelated robbery investigation. Long had been positively identified as the suspected perpetrator. Long was arrested without incident, transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing, and later transported to the Elmore County Jail where he remains without bail pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.

This is an ongoing investigation, so there is not much information we cannot release at this time. However, we have been actively trying to locate Cedric Long in connection with this robbery warrant, which may involve multiple victims who have not yet come forward for some reason.

We know that this individual has a history of committing multiple crimes, including violent acts involving weapons and attempts to evade law enforcement. Our investigators are consulting with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure that this individual remains in custody until a judge reviews the facts of the case. At that time, the judge can determine what bail, if any, is appropriate in this case.

Now that the alleged perpetrator is in custody, we hope that any other victims or witnesses who have independent knowledge of the robbery(s) or other crimes Long is alleged to have committed will come forward and cooperate with law enforcement.

If a crime is alleged, an active role of victims and witnesses in testifying against the accused is necessary for the successful prosecution of the perpetrators.

Law enforcement stands ready to bring justice to victims of crime, but to successfully fulfill our mission of keeping our citizens safe, we need the cooperation of our citizens.
