Chicago O’Hare Airport suspends operations after plane catches fire

Chicago O’Hare Airport temporarily suspended operations on Monday afternoon, May 27, after a plane’s engine caught fire while taxiing, local media reported, citing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to local media reports, United Flight 2091 to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport caught fire shortly before takeoff and smoke was seen rising from the port wing.

The footage, filmed by Andrew Defraties from a Southwest aircraft, shows police cars racing toward the United flight.

“We were next in line to take off before they shut down the airport,” said Defraties.
