CM Vijayan orders suspension of DySP Sabu for attending Goonda leader’s festival – KERALA – GENERAL

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered suspension of DySP MG Sabu, who attended a festival organised by Goonda leader Thammanam Faizal. The disciplinary action against Sabu comes as he retires from police service on May 31.

Thammanam Faizal organised the festivities on May 26 at his Puliyanam residence in Angamaly. Faizal’s house and premises were under police surveillance. After receiving information, the police commissioner Vaibhav Saxena directed the Angamaly SI to check the place. The sub-inspector arrived while Sabu was partying with Faizal. On seeing the officer, Sabu hid in a bathroom. Faizal told the SI that the other two policemen were his associates. All three were taken to the police station where it was revealed that the other two with Faizal are policemen and had come with the DySP. However, Sabu told the Alappuzha police commissioner that he was at his residence at that time.

On checking the call details of the police officials, it became clear that Faizal had not been contacted, who stated that the said DySP did not come and there was no celebration.

Jollymon, a driver of the Special Cell of Alappuzha police, and CK Deepak, a CPO, were suspended for visiting the goonda leader’s house.
