AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – After a very pleasant Memorial Day weekend and Monday, we will see a change in tides starting Tuesday, with storm chances increasing in the area.

Storms will likely move in late afternoon and into the evening tomorrow, with severe storms expected to occur between 4 and 9 p.m. Storm chances will continue into the overnight hours, but nighttime activity should be relatively weaker. Storms will not be widespread, so not everyone will see storms in their hometown.

Tomorrow, cities in the south and east of the Texas Panhandle are most likely to see heavy rainfall.

The strongest storms could cause destructive damage, with wind gusts up to 70-75 mph and moderate to large hail. Flash flooding is also possible if a storm moves slowly over a city or if several storms move over the same area in a short period of time. The tornado threat for tomorrow, while relatively low, is not zero.

Storm chances will continue to increase throughout the rest of the week, and there may be more days with severe storm threats.
