Kano governor suspends TV station CEO for alleged embezzlement

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Hajiya Hauwa Ibrahim as Acting Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television.

The appointment followed the suspension of Managing Director Mustapha Indabawa.

The letter of appointment dated 27 May 2024 was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi.

The letter instructed Ibrahim to take over the station’s operations immediately.

Prior to her current appointment, Ibrahim served as the television station’s deputy general manager.

The Kano State government had filed seven charges against suspended Managing Director and Staff Officer Ibrahim M. Bello, including criminal conspiracy, embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.

Recall that the State Anti-Corruption Commission investigated the case after a petition was submitted to the State Governor against the controversial MD.
