One dead in head-on collision in New Berlin

New Berlin police report three more injured

NOW TO BREAKING NEWS. A HEAD-OFF ACCIDENT EARLY MORNING IN NEW BERLIN. IT HAPPENED ON NATIONAL STREET BETWEEN BARTON AND GLEN GARY IN NEW BERLIN, NOT FAR FROM WHERE NATIONAL STREET INTERSECTS RACINE AVENUE. 12 NEWS JAMES STRATTON IS LIVE THERE RIGHT NOW. JAMES, WHAT DO YOU SEE FROM WHERE YOU ARE? AND MALLORY, THIS AREA HAS BEEN CLOSED OFF FOR HOURS. BEHIND ME, YOU SEE A TWO CAR ACCIDENT, A SMALLER TYPE OF SUV OR MINIVAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WE ARE ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY AND IN THE DITCH ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE. A TRUCK OR LARGER SUV. FIREFIGHTERS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THAT TRUCK OR SUV FOR THE LAST FEW MINUTES. THAT’S IN THE DITCH THERE. THE OTHER SMALLER SUV IN THE MIDDLE OF NATIONAL. NO WORD YET ON WHO OR HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN THAT ACCIDENT SCAN. BUT TRAFFIC THIS MORNING INDICATES THAT AT LEAST ONE PERSON WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER A PERSON CROSSED THE CENTER LINE. SOUTH OF BARTON NATIONAL. SOUTH OF BARTON. WE ARE RECEIVING SEVERAL CALLS AND AN AUTOMATIC ACCIDENT NOTIFICATION FROM AN APPLE WATCH VERNON. A LOT OF CALLING ON THE LINE. SO FAR WE’VE ONLY HAD ONE CAR CROSS THE CENTER LINE. A LITTLE CONFUSION BETWEEN POLICE AND CENTRAL REFERENCE AS THEY TRY TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. NATIONAL BETWEEN GLEN, GARRY AND BARTON IS CURRENTLY CLOSED. IF YOU WANT TO TRAVEL IN THAT AREA TRAFFIC IS BEING DIVERTED TO GLENGARY, AT LEAST SOUTH WEST WHERE WE ARE. POLICE HAVE NOT GAVE US A LOT OF INFORMATION TODAY. LOCAL POLICE HAVE NOT GAVE US ANY INFORMATION YET. WE ARE STILL TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW MANY INJURED THERE ARE, HOW SEVERE THEIR INJURIES WERE, AND IF A CAR DID ACTUALLY CROSS THE CENTER LINE HERE ON WEST NATIONAL, EAST OF GLEN GARY ROAD. WE ARE WORKING TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ON THIS ACCIDENT BEHIND ME AS POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS CONTINUE TO WORK ON THE ACCIDENT CASE. MALLORY. New Berlin police report three more injured

One person is dead after a head-on collision in New Berlin on Monday. Police responded to National Avenue and Racine around 8:15 a.m. Three others were taken to the hospital. At this time, we do not know the severity of their injuries. At the scene of the crash, WISN saw two cars: a large SUV on the side of the road and a white minivan on National. Officials say drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in their initial investigation. Neighbors told 12 News the three injured were in the white minivan, the driver of the SUV was killed. New Berlin police say National Avenue between Glengarry and Barton Road reopened around 3 p.m. Monday.

One person was killed in a head-on collision in New Berlin on Monday.

Police responded to National Avenue and Racine at around 8:15 a.m.

Three others were taken to hospital. We do not yet know how serious their injuries are.

At the scene, WISN saw two cars: a large SUV on the side of the road and a white minivan on National Highway. Officials say drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in their initial investigation.

Neighbors told 12 News that there were three injured people in the white minivan and the driver of the SUV was killed.

New Berlin police said National Avenue between Glengarry and Barton Roads reopened around 3 p.m. Monday.
