Person dies when tree branch falls on car during thunderstorm (Nelson County)

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – One person is dead after winds from Sunday’s storm blew a tree branch onto the vehicle the person was sheltering in.

According to information provided to the National Weather Service by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, May 26, a person was sheltering in a vehicle near the Wingina area of ​​Nelson County during a thunderstorm when the wind caused a tree limb to fall onto the vehicle.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the victim died at the scene or was pronounced dead at the hospital.
